Residents of Chatham can now get help with their computer needs thanks to a new Rochester-based Community Interest Company.

The Paramount Foundation CIC, in collaboration with All Saints Community Project, has opened a community computer suite at The Magpie Centre, Magpie Hall Road.

With staff available to lend support and deliver practical coaching sessions, the suite is free to use and can help with exercises such as looking up medical records and job searching.

Matt Salisbury, Manager of The Paramount Foundation, said: “We wanted to create a welcoming and friendly atmosphere for something that could be considered daunting, or is unfamiliar. The suite has had a good turnout of locals so far and having access to it has helped improve people’s skills.

“We have also linked up with The MYtrust, a local youth provider, to help young people in the area take their next steps – whether that is college, work or volunteering. Working with Royal British Legion Industries, tutors will be delivering specific sessions on employability and interview techniques.”

The computers are available every Monday (excluding Bank Holidays) from 11am to 1pm and are free to use.

The Paramount Foundation, an organisation founded by Paramount Independent Property Services and based in Rochester, offers a programme of sports, creative arts, gardening and IT, and supports community groups to help people into education or work.
