We wanted to join in, talk to people about the great work we do and create entertainment for some of the weekend’s younger visitors.

Aiming to recreate the atmosphere of chimney sweeps’ traditional holiday, the annual Sweeps Festival is a local celebration that takes place on the streets of Rochester. The weekend of activity, traditionally held on 1 May, includes Morris dancing, live music and roaming performers.

This year, we teamed up with Fairytale Entertainment and Pretending People Theatre Company. By holding workshops for children, performing music on the street and telling people about our work and who we are, we were able to raise £200 toward the cost of future Medway projects.

Matthew Salisbury, Manager of The Paramount Foundation, said: “We love being out and about, spreading our message and getting involved in everything that we can.

One of our main aims is to engage with people, and this was a fun and useful way of doing that. We hope to be back next year.”
